I will never flee Mugabe

20 Aug 2016 at 11:46hrs | Views
Fellow Zimbabweans, I have received several inquiries regarding my safety. I am safe and well. Thank you.

I have also received unconfirmed information insinuating that the police is picking up people and I am one of those they want to pick up.

Others are suggesting that I must run away and I thank them for the concern. However, I wish to make it abundantly clear to all and sundry that I am not going to run away.

I am not a criminal and I know no other home than this one - Zimbabwe.

If taking a stand against human rights abuses, corruption, poverty and injustice is a crime then I am 100% ready to take bullets for that crime. It's too late for me to be afraid.

I really don't have anything to lose. They took my brother, best friend and mentor Itai Dzamara. I can't imagine any greater loss than that, neither do I count my life dear to me. For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

I will never be afraid of a human being. There is just but one God whom I worship.

This afternoon I will personally go to Harare Central Police Station to hand in an amended letter of notice for the Itai Dzamara commemoration demonstration taking place on the 10th. We shall avail more details about that soon.

It's too late for me to give up. I have burnt the bridges and no amount of persecution can cause me to flinch. I always say that a dead man can never be 'deadier' than being dead.

Like the apostle Paul in the Bible, I boldly declare that none of these things move me. My eyes caught a glimpse of a place that is beyond where we are. That place is calling us to it. We can't pitch a tent here.

Let's pray and work for a better Zimbabwe. Its possible in our lifetime.
