29 May 2012 at 18:13hrs | Views
The report from the Daily News which stated that Prophet Angel of Spirit Embassy had attacked Prophet TB Joshua in a sermon has been met with outcries of anger and defiance from those who actually heard what Angel said.

Daily News headlined the story as: "Prophet Angel attacks Prophet TB Joshua in Prophet Makandiwa's presence" and stated that "Angel, has torn into popular Nigerian prophet TB Joshua, stopping short of calling him an agent of the devil."

The report goes on to quote Angel as saying: "Some of you say he is a satanist. If he is, let him come so we can remove his demons. If he is not (satanic) then it will be good again for us if he heals one or two of my children because he would have helped on my work," also stating that Angel was in the support of the governments decision to attempt to block T.B. Joshua from entering Zimbabwe.

Angel is quoted as saying, "There are laws that govern each country and if authorities say he cannot come then what can we say?

We need to respect the powers that govern us because the bible says we should respect our authorities".

This sermon which was said to have been very scathing and antagonistic towards T.B. Joshua was delivered, according to the report in the presence of Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa who was in full support of his friend's rantings.

The story immediately generated reactions as outraged commenters declared this to be a false and shallow piece of journalism.

Tsitsi Ivan Ivan from South Africa stated: "That's the lowest level of Journalism infact this is cheap bar talk---Where is the attack if I may ask? Dear reporter you need Jesus like now."

Gerald Mimshack Mushingaidzwa said that he was present when the infamous sermon was given, saying, "That's a REAL LIE. Media misleads people with false info and unreliable info. I was there at Prophet Angel's church and he never attacked him at all."

Someone who identified themselves as Joko vehemently criticized Daily News for their poor, cheap journalism, saying: "I think your headline is just wrong. I don't remember Prophet Angel attacking Prophet T.B. Joshua in any way. I guess your headline is meant to attract visits to your website and we will not give you that pleasure by referring it to other people. Prophet Angel merely said if Prophet T.B. Joshua is of the devil, if he comes we will deliver him and if he is of God, that's still okay. He never took sides. He was just giving an opinion and he didn't take any sides. You seem to want to portray Prophet Angel to be opposing Prophet T.B. Joshua which is basically wrong. Find other stories to write that will bring readers to your sight. Please stop attending services so that you can write your silly stories. There is no attack whatsoever on Prophet T.B. Joshua. This is CHEAP & POOR JOURNALISM."

Mafirakureva declared that "The actual villain here is the Daily News and for those who follow the news closely they will know that those guys have something against Makandiwa and anybody close to him".

The media is a tool which can be used for immense good and also to spread malicious lies and provoke unnecessary speculation. When it comes to men of God, the media should be careful about talking too cheaply and creating something out of nothing. Due to the immense popularity of T.B. Joshua, Daily News knows that if it uses him in a headline or subject of their stories, they will gain more readers. They should instead have the mind of writing in truth, honesty and integrity, rather than tarnishing their name by creating a mountain out of a mole hill. It is shameful that individuals who call themselves professionals can stoop down to this kind of level.
