Zifa Southern Region have given former premiership champions Zimbabwe Saints up to today to clear their arrears or face the chop.

Their match against early season title favourites Tsholotsho, which was supposed to be played on Saturday in Bulawayo, was postponed at the last minute and will now be played on Wednesday.

It is hoped by then Chauya Chikwata would have cleared their arrears, which date back to 2010.

Zimbabwe Saints were by February this year owing the league $2,000 in fines and licence fees for players but strangely they have been allowed to continue playing. Their officials even participated in crucial elections held early this year.

Chikwata owe the league $1,000 in licence fees from previous seasons and it could not be ascertained whether or not they have paid their licence fees for this season.

Club secretary Jabulani Chinyangarara sits on the Southern Region board.

Zimbabwe Saints is among the clubs that owe the league about $28,000. Some of the teams have been relegated from Division One while others have since disbanded.

Musa Mandaza led board that is eager to impress the corporate world, has warned defaulting teams that they risk being deregistered.

Asked the reason why the Saints match was postponed, Tumediso Mokoena who is in charge of fixtures said:"Let me get back to you on Monday".
