Reigning Ms Zimbabwe Regina Jonga is set to guest pose at Saturday's Mr and Ms Ironman to be held at the Longchen Plaza in the capital.

Jonga, a domestic worker based in South Africa, is one of the most sought after athletes across the region, at the moment after she defied odds placing sixth in the women's physique for up to 163 centimetres at the inaugural Anorlds Classic Africa in Sandton, South Africa in May.

The two-time Ms Ironman bodybuilding champion will be available to defend her Ms Zimbabwe crown in October.

National Federation of Zimbabwe Bodybuilding and Fitness (NFZBBF) secretary-general Quiet Shangai confirmed the arrangement with Jonga for Saturday's contest.

"She's coming to guest pose in order to promote women physique so she's coming through to inspire her peers which is something very special in our endeavours as NFZBBF to attract more women to take up the women physique category," Shangai told the Daily News.

The contest returns to the capital for the first time in three years after being a permanent feature at Kadoma's Odyssey Centre.

The change of venue also sees the event taking a new format in line with the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness standards.

Instead of the main show being staged in the evening, both the pre-judge and main event will be held before sunset.

NFZBBF expects over 100 athletes to participate in the event that is powered by Astro Mobile, 1+1 Happy, ProFitness Health Club, Greetings Pharmacy and Cancer Pharmacy among other sponsors.

Athletes expected to participate: Isaac Chimuchenga, Lazarus Shereni, Charity Juma, Shantel Batch, Selina Manuel, Mitchell Matsito, Fern Rose, Eddie Marondera, Nunurai Masosonere, Lovemore Munyamana, Brighton Mazikana, Blessing Saunyama, Bruce Kakono, Lee Dzinzi, Simbarashe Mhaka, Masimba Nyamajiwa, Paul Goredema, Thabho Ngulube, Mako Mwale, Blessing Nyapimbi, Eliah Samaringa, Gideon Teguru, Ephita Mpande, Sean Maphosa, Brian Saundombe.
