Highlanders in a fix

Highlanders FC  is sweating to pin down  several senior players on new contracts for next season.

The Bulawayo giants finished third this past season.

Eight players, Felix Chindungwe, Rahman Kutsanzira, Simon Munawa, Douglas Sibanda, Ralph Matema, Tendai Ngulube, Honest Moyo and goalkeeper Njabulo Nyoni have their contracts expiring on Sunday.

Only  Erick Mudzingwa and goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda have signed new contracts.

Club secretary Emmett Ndlovu said real business on new contracts will  resume next year as they are currently on holiday.

"The status quo remains. We are on holiday and the offices are closed. We will resume discussions with the players next year when we open our offices," Ndlovu is quoted saying.

Castle Lager Soccer Star of the Year finalist Peter Muduhwa extended his stay by two years.

But Bidvest Wits and Polokwane City of South Africa are keen to snatch him.

According to NewsDay, players with running contracts include Castle Lager Rookie of the Year Prince Dube, Benson Phiri, King Nadolo, Brian Banda, Allen Gahadzikwa, Adrian Silla,Prosper Matutu, Bukhosi Ncube, Thembalethu Mthunzi, McCarthy Dube and Nkosana Ndlovu.
