Patrick Vieira believes Carlos Tevez is on a par with Thierry Henry when it comes to leading from the front.
Veteran midfielder Vieira played alongside Henry during his days at Arsenal, with his fellow Frenchman cementing superstar status during his time with the Gunners.
His goals paved the way for a trophy-laden era in the club's history, with a record breaking eight-year spell raising the Premier League bar.
Vieira feels his current Manchester City team-mate Tevez is capable of producing similar heroics, with the Argentine having become something of a talisman at Eastlands.
He has found the target 49 times in 70 appearances for City, underlining his value and importance to the side.
Vieira is confident Tevez will continue to go from strength to strength, with the Blues looking to their skipper to inspire them to long-awaited silverware.
"I think Carlos is as good as Thierry Henry," Vieira said in the Daily Star.
Fantastic
"When you want to win trophies you need a striker who can score 20 to 25 goals a season or even more.
"It's fantastic for City because we have that type of player in Carlos. He is someone who can win you games.
"If you want to win the championship or FA Cup you need these types of players and we've got someone like that."
Tevez will be the centre of attention for City once again this weekend when they go to arch-rivals, and his former employers, Manchester Unitedon Saturday.
The Blues head to Old Trafford five points behind the Red Devils in the Premier League title race, and have played a game more, but Vieira is confident Roberto Mancini's men can take the battle for top-flight supremacy down to the wire.
He said: "There is still a long way to go, but we believe in ourselves."
