Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Matthew Rusike is back at training with the rest of his team-mates at the club and hopes to make his return to competitive football before the end of the current season.

According to the Soccer-Laduma website, the 22-year-old was forced onto the sidelines earlier in the year, after sustaining a groin injury in the side's 2-0 win over Chippa United, and while it was originally thought that he may be out for the rest of the season, the Siya crew reported that it would not be the case.

With five PSL games left to play, the Zimbabwe international is back at training with the Chiefs squad and says that he is no longer feeling any pain.

He told the club's website, "It feels good to be back in training. I did not feel any discomfort and I hope to be back in action soon. The medical team has been on top of their game as always and we are all pleased with the progress.

"Injuries are part of football. We are fortunate to have such depth in the squad and if a player is out there are always options for the Technical Team. We have been unlucky with injuries since the start of the season but the team has soldiered on and continues to do that."

It is unlikely that Rusike will make his return in this weekend's game against Moroka Swallows, although speaking on the game, he said, "It is a massive game for us, a Soweto Derby. They do not come as big as that and we will be determined to come back with three points on Saturday and continue with our good run in the league."
