Unkown Zimbabwean teen striker promoted to Wits first team

TEENAGE sensation Shungu Dutiro has been promoted to Bidvest Wits Football Club's first team after showing some great form over the past few months.

Dutiro proved his worth at the Engen Knockout Challenge when he bagged three awards to stake a claim as one of the most promising young stars to look out for in the junior ranks.

The 17-year-old Dutiro, a Grade 11 pupil at St Stithians College, was awarded the Best Striker of the Tournament, Top Goal Scorer of the Tournament and Best Player of the Tournament in last year's challenge.

Dutiro was recently named top goalscorer at the Future Champions U17' Tournament after finishing the tournament with six goals.

The young striker has been part of the Bidvest Wits academy for the past three years, and his mother, Gloria, was full of praise for her son, saying he had improved immensely over the years. "I feel extremely proud of Shungu as he has worked very hard to get where he is," she said.

Wits U17 coach Dillon Sheppard praised Dutiro and said, with his pace and skill on and off the ball, he was definitely the one to watch out for the future.

The 17-year-old Shungu Dutiro, a Urate it pupil at SI Stithians College was awarded the Best Striker of the Tournament at the Engen Knockout Challenge last year.
