Johannesburg - Windhoek in Namibia played host to the Prancing Horse on 18 July as Ferrari hosted its first-ever exclusive test drive event for prospective Namibian buyers.
The event, which saw well-heeled car enthusiasts enjoying the Italian hospitality at the Tony Rust race track and the San Karros Lifestyle Safaris resort in the Daan Viljoen Nature Reserve under the beautiful clear Namibian winter skies, has opened up a host of doors for new Ferrari clientele.
Mervyn Eagles, CEO of Viglietti Motors, says the Namibian event was a great achievement for the Ferrari brand. "Africa is a huge emerging new vehicle market as we all know, and exotic brands like Ferrari are no exception to the booming markets on the continent. Ferrari has definitely left an impression in Namibia, as has the wonderful hospitality and reception we received from the country left an indelible imprint on us. We look forward to servicing more Namibian clients' vehicle needs through our world-class dealer network in South Africa and evaluating the prospects of direct representation in Windhoek."
Not only did Ferrari have its latest and greatest vehicles available to test drive on the roads of Windhoek and the race track – including the Ferrari California, 458 Spider and FF – but official Ferrari driving instructors, known as Corso Pilota were even flown out from Italy to assist, advise and instruct on the day.
Eagles went on to conclude "the event was a successful milestone for Ferrari, and a remarkable event for the brand, prospective clients, and Ferraristi in Namibia."
