Refugees from neighbouring Ivory Coast appear to be adjusting to life in Ghana, with reports of eleven newly born babies.
The estimated 3,000 refugees who fled the troubled neighbouring country are stationed at the Ampayin camp in the Western Region.
The regional minister, Paul Boateng Aidoo told Joy News life in the camp is calm with women doing their cooking and children playing their football.
His comments come after reports of skirmishes Monday morning in which some journalists were reported to have been assaulted by the refugees for filming without permission.
But the Minister has denied the reports saying nothing of that magnitude happened.
He said there is calm in the camp with eleven new babies born and 27 other pregnant women counting the days to delivery.
Reports have been rife about some of the refugees seeking a return to the Ivory Coast after embattled president Laurent Gbagbo was arrested from his residence.
But the minister insists no such report has come to his notice. Rather, there is an increase in the influx of refugees to the camp.
According to him, 235 more were registered on Tuesday.
Joy News' Western Region correspondent Kweku Owusu Peprah partly confirmed the quiet within the camp but reported of paucity of water for the refugees.
He said only two bore holes serve the over 3,000 refugees, forcing some of them to trek to neighbouring communities for water.
They also complain of too few places of convenience which they say are not hygienic enough.
