A woman from Gauteng Yoliswa Cofa has lamented that doctors who operated her left her intestines exposed causing her serious health problems.
Daily Sun reported that the 46-year-old-woman from Kagiso in Mogale City is in a lot of pain.
This is because her intestines were left exposed by doctors at Leratong Hospital. She was told there was nothing they could do to put them back.
Yoliswa said she suffered a severe stomach ache last October. "I decided to go to the doctor to have it checked out.
"When I arrived at the hospital I was admitted and told that the doctors were going to run some tests to see what was wrong," she said. They told her they suspected she had cancer and she needed to be operated on.
Gauteng Health spokesman Steve Mabona said: "Indeed, Yoliswa Cofa was operated on at Leratong Hospital.
"The procedure was explained to her. She was also offered counselling to help her come to terms with her new condition, but there seems to be a misunderstanding.
"She has been contacted and a redress meeting is being organised by the hospital."
Arrangements were made for Yoliswa to meet with a specialist who will operate on her and put her intestines back properly.
