Children lift Zimbabwean flag high in SA

Zimbabwe children from both Matebeleland and Mashonaland just did the country proud in Pretoria, South Africa at the North Gauteng Junior Science Fair on Tuesday.
According to a Facebook post by Nomsa Nekevane of Mopane Foundation International, the children took awards of bronze and iron back home in Zimbabwe.
"The Nkayi kids in blue cannot make me prouder than I feel right now! These two [in blue uniform] have had permanent classes in the open ground because their school has 4 classes instead of at least 7 to accommodate every grade. I can surely write a best selling book about that community and their challenges," said Nekevane.
"To know the kids managed to take their social challenge of birth-certificates and decided to turn it into a winning project is just humbling."
Nekevane told Bulawayo24.com that: "Our appeal this end [UK] didn't produce much results but in SA God just did something else. We got an anonymous sponsor and he paid for their coach fare and accommodation, we only paid for our staff member who is with them. Someone who was anonymous as well volunteer to transport; I had a car ready me as a driver but i was scheduled to arrive 3 hours later than them. When i missed the flight he has just taken it upon himself to ensure they are ok. It seems our real main task is food which is take-aways.
I have been told yesterday they were not pleased because they couldn't find rice or pap."
According to Nekevane four children from Nkayi were meant to attend the event but only two ended up going due to passport problems. Mopane Foundation had to seek for assistance from Hon Minister Sithembiso Nyoni who contributed a sum of $300 towards the additional $800 for emergency passports as non of teachers and children had any. With all 4 and teachers an additional $1200 was needed.
