A Washington, US man is facing felony drug charges after he was busted smuggling marijuana disguised as Christmas presents across state lines.
Deputies in northern Idaho said when they pulled Jason Palmer over for speeding and tailgating on Dec. 22, his rented Mazda wagon smelled strongly of the illegal weed, the Coeur d'Alene Press newspaper reported.
Palmer told police he had a medical marijuana card and admitted to having a small amout in the vehicle, deputies said.
When an officer asked about some gift-wrapped presents inside the car, Palmer claimed they were "sweaters," the Press reported.
A K-9 unit was called to the scene, and cops discovered 3.3. pounds of marijuana wrapped up to look like Christmas loot.
Palmer's two sons, 14 and 12, were also arrested for not coming clean about their dad's dopey ruse.
The boys were charged with frequenting, according to the Press.
Palmer, 36, was charged with felony trafficking in marijuana and was released after posting $20,000 bond.
