Matabeleland North Provincial Minister Cain Mathema has remarried a woman 44 years younger than him.
Mathema (67) married young Bathabetsoe Diana Nare (23) on Thursday.
Nare is a Midlands State University graduate.
Her uncle, Desire Nare said the family had initially hesitated about her move.
"I had my reservations about the age difference but after a lengthy discussion with Bathabetsoe she convinced me that she was happily in love and I had to respect that. The most important thing is that they are in love," said he added.
Macro-Economic Planning and Investment Promotion Minister Obert Mpofu said Mathema was a lonely person.
"Cde Mathema has finally found a partner, a life partner after a long spell of loneliness. I personally used to feel pity for him because he needed a partner, least did I know that he was looking for the right partner and this ceremony we have witnessed is a wonderful union of my brother Mathema with his wife which I feel is a lifelong union".
Mathema divorced his wife, Musa of 19 years in 2008.
In court, Mathema said his marriage had irretrievably broken down saying he had not had sex with his wife in two years – although they lived in the same house.
"For the past two years, we have never shared the bed although we stay under the same roof. We are just staying like two lodgers in the house," Mathema said then.
Musa had been Mathema's second wife's maid before she was impregnated by the government official at 20.
