A MOTHER from Cowdray Park suburb in Bulawayo has taken her son to court to stop him from tormenting her as she alleges that he comes home late and drunk and insults her.
Matilda Ndlovu said when her son Bruno Murenje returns from a night out, he would bang at the door while ordering his mother to open the door for him.
At one time he smashed the living room window to enter the house. He would insult his mother thereby disturbing her peace.
Matilda said his unbridled noise would cause family members to wake up. He would shout at them while ordering them to vacate the house.
When they try to control him, he would run berserk and destroy household property. Matilda reported him to the police's Victim Friendly Unit (VFU) but it did not help matters. She said she engaged her aunt who sat him down but he never reformed.
In her affidavit she said: "I am applying for a protection order against my son Bruno Murenje. He is so disrespectful and violent. He usually comes home drunk from a night club. He would bang at the door while asking me to open the door for him.
"At times I delay opening the door because I would be in deep sleep, he would then smash a window to the sitting room and get into the sitting room.
He would insult me and my grandchildren while threatening to bash me. I have reported him to the police and my family members but all my efforts have yielded no result."
The presiding magistrate Ulukile Ndlovu granted Matilda a protection order and ordered Bruno not to insult her or destroy property.
