Late electrocuted boy passes O-level with flying colours

THE late Shepherd Mpala, a former O-level student at St Bernard's High School in Bulawayo, who was electrocuted by an exposed cable last year, emerged with distinctions in the 2013 Zimsec O-level results.
According to B-Metro, the late young genius, attained 5As and 5Bs.
Mpala sat for the O-level examinations and with all the anticipation of the pending results, he passed away a few months before the results were released.
He was electrocuted last year in December by an exposed live electricity cable.
He was a 17 years old.
Mpala was at a football training session with his Revelation Brethren football teammates when he was electrocuted.
He allegedly touched the n*ked cable when he sat down to wear his football boots.
It was reported that the deceased had just finished writing names of all the boys that had attended the training session when he left Others to put on bis football boots.
One of the boys realised thai be was lying down that is when they rushed to check on him.
Upon finding the deceased with a blister on one of his hands, residents suspected that the uncovered cable electrocuted him.
An ambulance was called and when the medical experts arrived the boy was declared dead.
The headmistress, identified as Mrs R Maphosa, confirmed the deceased's results.
"It is very painful and sad, we are finding it hard to adjust as a school. I cannot even start imagining how the family feels after seeing the results", said Maphosa.
In as much as the late worked hard all his efforts went in vain. The family, school, friends and the nation as a whole are still mourning Mpala.
The late Mpala's uncle, Alvin Mpala, expressed disappointment.
"You can imagine collecting results and seeing all those flying colours, all for your late son. He always told us how determined he was to go for A level, He would come from every exam giving us a guarantee that he had excelled exam. He wanted to be an engineer," explained the teary Mpala.
