In Makokoba Zanu-PF's Tshinga Dube has romped to victory polling 3182 votes.
Toan Dhlodhlo (Independent) 76, Sibangilizwe Msipa (Independent) 473,
Jonathan Ndlovu (Independent) 352, Mable Ngwenya (NCA) 19, Sehlelo
Nkomo (Transform Zimbabwe) 38, Peter Wilson (MKD) 80 while 66 ballots
were rejected.
Dube and Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Saturday donated a bus to Highlanders Football Club and the event hogged the limelight for the wrong reasons given the way it was handled.
Highlanders' fans were uneasy over the involvement of Mnangagwa to hand over the bus that was reportedly bought a long time ago. Given that Barbourfields is in Makokoba constituency, Dube could have seen an opportunity to ramp up his campaign by roping in Mnangagwa for the final leg of his campaign.
The result was to use Highlanders fans as bait for the make-or-break vote for Dube.
Meanwhile, the Pumula Constituency went to Zanu-PF's Godfrey Malaba who got 2 477. The candidate with the second highest number of votes was Bathandi Mpofu of Zapu who got 777.
In the Lobengula Constituency Maidei Mpala of Zanu-PF garnered 1 976 votes. Casper Sibanda of Zapu had 492.
Thandoyenkosi Mlilo of Zanu-PF won the Luveve seat by 1765 votes. Amon Nyamabvi Dube had 562 votes.
The Pelandaba-Mpopoma Constituency was also won by a Zanu-PF candidate, Joseph Chuma who was favoured by 2050 voters.
