FIVE self proclaimed hookers who allegedly robbed a man of US$288 in the Avenues have been denied bail.

Shaline Munemo Tinemo, 27, Letwin Mahachi, 28, Sarudzai Shamhuyenhanzu, 26, Tafadzwa Makwarimba, 27 and Greatwin Nyasha Chutare are being charged of robbing a man after he had sexual intercourse with one of their own.

They were remanded in custody to January 23 by Harare Magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa.

The State represented by Audrey Chogumaira opposed bail arguing that the accused have a tendency of changing addresses hence it would be difficult to trace them when they are out.

Circumstances leading to their arrest are that on January 4 this year, the victim approached one lady only identified as Patience who is still at large and agreed to have a quickie at a price of US$15.

It is alleged that they then drove to Megawatt Court in Room 81 where they had sexual intercourse.

The State alleges that after the act, the gang pounced on the complainant and started demanding US$1000 or US$50 saying that Patience owed them money and that he was supposed to pay for her.

The complainant is alleged to have refused to give them money but they grabbed him before they took his wallet and took all the money.

After being released he went to the police and lodged a complaint leading to the arrest of the accused.

It is alleged that the complainant lost US$288 and nothing was recovered.
