Zanu PF legislator for a Harare constituency Terence Mukupe has warned party members that President Robert Mugabe has a mandate to rule the country until 2018 as the alleged jostling for his positions has created fissures in the party. ยท

He said Zimbabwe is a democratic society and the next elections are in 2018 per our Constitution.

"The Zanu PF constitution is very clear on matters of succession. The citizenry must realise that it's useless and ideal chatter to focus on the internal goings on in Zanu PF as an indication that there is about to be some leadership shakeup," he said.

"President RG Mugabe is the President with a mandate to rule this country till the next elections. Likewise Dr Amai Mugabe is the leader of the women's league with a clear mandate as well to lead and make changes to that organ as she sees fit till the next elective Congress."

He said politics does not build this country but exerting our energies on developmental issues, eradication of corruption, building of stronger institutional frameworks and above all the fear of God will result in a prosperous Zimbabwe.

"Let's focus on the things that truly matter: primary healthcare, jobs creation, sound economic policies and food in the table for everyone....These days I avoid negative minds devoid of any solutions to make our country great again. It's not a Zanu PF or MDC thing but a collective effort that will solve all the socio-economic ills," he said.
