ZRP music director dies at 55

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) director of music Chief Superintendent Davis Chamutinya has died at the age of 55.
Chief Supt Chamutinya died at his Nyamuseve Farm in Guruve after a short illness.
ZRP spokesperson Chief Superintendent Oliver Mandipaka confirmed the death yesterday.
He said the police had lost a dedicated, loyal, hardworking and passionate officer who strived to entertain the nation.
"ZRP has lost a highly dedicated and loyal senior officer who rose through the ranks from constable in 1980 up to chief superintendent in 2003.
"He exhibited outstanding leadership qualities as he managed to lead the military, dance and mbira bands.
"Upon completion of police training he joined support unit band section as a bass player. The organisation gives great credit to him for having smoothly co-ordinated the activities of the band.
"He is also credited for introducing police mbira group. He was a very passionate director. ZRP and the nation have lost a great man," he said.
Chief Superintendent Chamutinya also served in Kosovo under the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission.
Mourners are gathered at his home in Kuwadzana in Harare.
Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
