POLICE will not hesitate to employ provisions of various statutes to deal with any forms of violence and disorder, a senior cop has said.

Officer commanding Harare South District, Chief Superintendent Kennedy Nyaumwe warned perpetrators of violence during the Re-Invigoration of the district Client Service Charter in Budiriro on Wednesday.

"As the nation approaches the 2018 harmonised elections the ZRP encourages all political parties to engage in non-violent campaigns before, during and after elections," said Chief Supt Nyaumwe.

"As an organisation we appeal to every citizen at all levels to uphold the clarion call by the Head of State to ensure that there is abiding peace in Zimbabwe.

"Hence perpetrators of violence and all forms of lawlessness are reminded to desist from such unruly conduct.

"I am pleased to state that as we launch this ZRP Client Service Charter today, the ZRP has put in place user-friendly communication tools such as the hotlines, suggestion boxes, WhatsApp and other platforms to facilitate the flow of information between the police and the public.

"These platforms make it easy for citizens and businesses to alert various levels of the police command of problems, suggestions, improvements and provide feedback on how the public can ensure access to high-quality services.

"I would like to say that the sustenance of our partnership would help to foster a crime-free society and reduce the level of fear of crime in which peace and tranquility are essential ingredients of social and economic development continue to prevail," said Chief Supt Nyaumwe.

He noted a decrease in crime in the district by six percent from January to June as compared to the same period last year calling for a sound partnership with the wider community in fighting crime.

He said a real friend tell you when your face is dirty urging the community to play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of police services.

The occasion was graced by Honourable Betty Nhambu Kaseke, senior police officers, various church leaders, stakeholders and school heads.

Tryson Chimbetu, the Police band and a traditional dancing group provided entertainment.
