The man who allegedly killed his wife's four sisters in Gokwe has since paid six of the 48 beasts that his in-laws are demanding as compensation for the murders.

A family spokesperson, Mr Amson Dlomo, confirmed receiving the beasts.

"We received six beasts from the Dubes. They paid on behalf of their son. We are still looking forward to the payment of the remaining 42 beasts as that is the only way to appease the spirits. Failure to meet those demands will spell doom for those that have the blood of our children on their hands," said Mr Dlomo.

Dingilizwe Dube of Nkayi appeared before Gokwe Magistrate Sibongile Zungula this week facing four counts of murder and malicious damage to property.

He axed eight cattle after allegedly killing the siblings.

Dube pleaded guilty to malicious damage to property and was sentenced to 12 months in prison and in addition was asked to pay six beasts to his in-laws or $1 800 as compensation.

Representing the state, Mr Progress Chaisva said Dube had a misunderstanding with his wife, which spilled over to his in-laws and escalated into a verbal altercation.

Dube allegedly went to his in-laws" home brandishing a machete.

He allegedly doused with petrol a bedroom hut where the four girls were sleeping before torching it. The four girls were all burnt beyond recognition.

Dube was sold out by his hat which was found at the crime scene. He also got burnt as he torched the hut. A bloodied machete and fuel containers were also found at his home.
