It was an emotional day as Highlands Junior School children bid farewell to one of their own third grader Tatenda Matemera who died on Wednesday after collapsing in classroom.
Sometimes death comes unexpectedly and leaves many if not everyone heartbroken with wounds no one can heal.
On that fateful day, Tatenda's parents dropped him and his sister at Highlands Junior School.
The normally healthy and active 8 year old boy had never complained of any illness.
His parents were hoping to see him after school but alas this was not to be.
For his classmates the day was just a usual with class 3 Orange going on with their usual lessons.
It was then that young Tatenda collapsed and died on Wednesday in the classroom in front of his classmates, a memory that will last longer for the other kids at Highlands Junior School and their teacher Mrs Tendai Mutsvanga.
This Saturday (today) was a sad and emotional day as Highlands Junior students stood shedding tears in memory of one of their own in their school uniform.
His death came as a shock.
Tatenda loved his school friends, his teacher and adored his sisters.
For Tadiwa and Diana they will miss the only brother whom they believe is now in a better place.
The family has lost a young life, said his distraught uncle.
The goal is not to live forever but to leave the loved ones with loving memories said the family's pastor.
The post mortem showed that Tatenda succumbed to pulmonary edema a condition in which fluid from inside vessels fills in the lungs.
He was laid to rest today at Glen Forest cemetery and memories will linger on for other students who had fun times at school with him.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
