Farmer demands 19 beasts from cattle rustlers

A cattle farmer in Gwanda has sued three men suspected of operating a cattle rustling syndicate demanding that they return 19 beasts which they allegedly stole from him or they pay him the sum of $24 350.

The farmer, Hlompho Nare Charlie, filed summons at the Bulawayo High Court citing the suspects Prince Dube, Celani Moyo and Hedge Dube as defendants.

"The plaintiff's claim against the defendants jointly and severally one paying the other to be absolved are for the safe return and delivery of the 19 cattle in same condition together with their calves or alternatively payment of the sum of $24 350 being money owed to the plaintiff by defendants jointly and severally with one absolving the other for the 19 cattle stolen from plaintiff's kraal," read the summons.

He also demanded the delivery of 13 calves or payment of market value of the 13 calves being progeny for 2018.

In his declaration of claim, Nare said he owned 24 cattle, which were stolen from Plot 12 Railway Block Gwanda on November 3 last year.
