CHURCHES are taking the anti-sanctions initiative to opposition parties saying they must add their voice by calling for the unconditional lifting of the economic embargo which they say is hurting Zimbabweans.
Zimbabwe Amalgamated Churches Council (Zacc) said this week they will form a coalition of interested organisations and start to engage the opposition parties.
"We are going to form an anti-sanctions coalition with all interested organisations. We want the opposition parties to also join this coalition so that we fight sanction as one people. Opposition must add their voices against sanctions," Zacc patron, Jimayi Muduvuri told the Daily News.
"People are suffering because of these sanctions, we want to make sure that these illegal sanctions are removed. We want to support our government in fighting sanctions because things have changed since the coming in of President Emmerson Mnangagwa."
(Zacc) has engaged British Embassy officials on the removal of the illegal sanctions imposed on the country. The anti-sanction campaign team approached the British Embassy recently and its message was clear, the sanctions are causing untold suffering to the ordinary Zimbabweans and they should be removed.
