Eleven (11) people are feared dead following an accident involving a commuter omnibus and a Honda fit near Headlands this morning.
The tragedy once again hit the Apostolic Christian community after a commuter omnibus carrying members of the Sungano Yevapositori from Karimbika area in UMP who were coming from their annual passover gathering in Bazel Bridge, Manicaland collided with a Honda fit.
When the ZBC News visited Marondera Provincial Hospital, where the injured were being attended to, ambulances were transferring the critically injured to Parirenyatwa and Chitungwiza hospitals in Harare Metropolitan Province.
Police are yet to confirm the number of casualties but a survivor in the accident, Ms Dorcas Chimbwanda said 11 people died in the accident, six who were in the commuter omnibus and five in the Honda Fit.
"We heard a loud bang while we were seated at the back and when we got out that is when we realised our vehicle had been involved in an accident with a Honda fit and six people from our kombi and five from the other vehicle died on the spot," she said.
According to sources at Marondera Provincial Hospital, of the 16 injured in the accident, three were transferred to Parirenyatwa Hospital, while four have been treated and discharged.

"We are appealing to the government to assist in the burial of the victims. With some of them coming from Karimbika which is in Uzumba we are in the process of assisting the families with some logistics," he said
The accident comes hardly a week after 14 members of the Mugodhi Apostolic Church were killed when a lorry rammed into them at the church's headquarters after it sideswiped a bus.
