Guruve district public prosecutor Albert Mazhindu (56) was nabbed on Thursday afternoon after he alleged took US$100 meant for bail on three suspects who were remanded in custody by Guruve magistrate, Bulawayo24.com has learnt.

According to a leaked police memorandum the prosecutor demanded US$100 from the complanaint Pauline Bonafacae (30) to release Felix Marungisa, Mackenzie Chikuy, Devine Chikuyo and Constance Munhuwa who are facing allegations of illegal gold panning and poaching under Mushumbi Pools CRs 18-19/10/20.

Mazhindu allegedly demanded US$100 for the favour and discouraged Bonafacae from engaging the service of a legal counsel Nancy Mabhoyi.

Mabhoyi is reported to have made a tip off to police details who photocopied, certified and retained  the money.

The complanaint called Mazhindu and gave him the money under the watchful eye of the police leading to his arrest.

He is being represented by Trust Sengwayo and is set to appear in court on Friday.
