Masvingo Provincial Affairs Minister Ezra Chadzamira and Zanu-PF national political commissar Victor Matemadanda today headlined a group of senior Government and ruling party officials to receive the Covid-19 Sinopharm inoculation here.
Cdes Chadzamira and Matemadanda were inoculated at the Benjamin Burombo Building where they were also joined by members of the Covid-19 provincial taskforce and media practitioners.
Their vaccination happened on the fourth day since the rollout of the vaccination programme in Masvingo where 805 frontline workers had been jabbed by Wednesday evening.
Speaking after receiving his jab, Matemadanda urged other Zimbabweans to be inoculated against the novel virus saying myths being spread about the Chinese-made vaccine were part of a fight for world hegemony between global powers.
Matemadanda said the national leadership of the country had set the tone for the nation to embrace vaccination by getting inoculated first.
"The vaccination programme is not a political party thing but open to all Zimbabweans who are will to do so. This is voluntary and those who want can be vaccinated. My appeal is that false reports circulating on social media about this vaccine be rejected as this is part of the fight for global hegemony between super powers which started with the ongoing trade wars."
Minister Chadzamira weighed in calling on the people of Masvingo to embrace the Sinopharm vaccine to insulate themselves against Covid-19. He pointed out that there was already a precedent in vaccination with every person having been immunised against diseases such as polio before.
After Cdes Matemadanda and Chadzamira had been inoculated, other members of the Covid-19 provincial taskforce led by Police Officer Commanding Operations Masvingo Province Assistant Commissioner Felicitus Musvipa and 4 Brigade Commander Brigadier General Exorbios Tshuma were also inoculated.
Members of the ruling party provincial leadership including provincial political commissar Jevas Masosota also joined Matemadanda with journalists from both private and public media also being inoculated.
The latest Covid-19 test results for Masvingo that came out Wednesday evening showed the province had only seven new cases of the virus, all in Chiredzi district.
