A man who had problems with his wife ran berserk and frenziedly attacked her, his child and mother-in-law with an axe.
When Beatrice Ncube of Heany Junction in umguza was retiring to bed shortly after 9pm she was shocked to see her estranged husband, Mpilo Moyo (30), under the bed at her parents' home.
A family insider said: "She asked him why he was sleeping under the bed and he responded saying he wanted to resolve their marital problem.
"Ncube dashed to inform her mother that Moyo was in her room. She then returned to her room."
She found Moyo seething with anger and he accused her of dumping him for an illegal miner. In a fit of rage, he took a small axe from his pocket and axed her on the forehead.
When her mother heard cries, she rushed to see what was happening and when she got into Beatrice's room, the marauding Moyo hacked her thigh.
He ran to his 20 months old child and hit him on the head with the back of the axe.
He threatened to kill everyone in the house before fleeing from the scene.
All the attacked family members were ferried to United Bulawayo Hospitals.
Bulawayo deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident and advised community members never to let aggrieved parties to solve their misunderstanding alone but to involve third parties like pastors, police or elderly people in the community.
