Binga man jailed

A man from Chinego Village under Chief Pashu in Binga appeared before Hwange Magistrate court Ms Fungai Dzimiri on Thursday afternoon for unlawful dealing in dangerous drugs (dagga) and possession of class one traps (wire snares).
Million Mukombwe (42) pleaded guilty to both charges. Details are that on October 15, Kamativi Police teamed up and reacted swiftly to a tip off leading to the arrest of the accused person. Police found 197 dagga plants in the tomato garden of Million Mukombwe. During further searches, the Police also recovered 93 prepared wire snares for trapping birds and wild animals.
Mukombwe was found guilty to both counts and was sentenced to three years imprisonment of which 1 year was suspended on the usual 5 year conditions, 2 years effective at Hwange Prisons and for the second count, he was sentenced to18 months imprisonment of which 6 months was suspended on the usual 5-year conditions and 12 months effective. Both sentences are to run concurrently 24 months effective.
