'Iran leader's death blow to Zimbabwe'

He conveyed condolences to Iran following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the life of President Dr. Ebrahim Raisi and other officials.

Highlighting the shared aspiration for socio-economic progress amidst sanctions, President Mnangagwa expressed hope for continued cooperation in honor of President Raisi's legacy. He recalled President Raisi's historic State Visit to Zimbabwe in July 2023, which solidified bilateral relations.

The President conveyed heartfelt condolences to Iran, recognizing President Raisi's significant contributions and expressing sorrow over his untimely demise. He emphasized the loss to both nations and pledged Zimbabwe's unwavering support to Iran during this challenging time.

President Mnangagwa shared memories of his interactions with President Raisi, underscoring the strengthening of bilateral ties during his visit. He reiterated Zimbabwe's solidarity with Iran and extended sympathy to the families of the deceased.

In the wake of President Raisi's passing, Iran's First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber has assumed the role of acting President, confirmed by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
