The Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) will this year host the Tongogara commemorations to mark 33 years after the death of General Josiah Magama Tongogara.
On Wednesday the 26th of December, the ZDF will join the Tongogara family in remembering one of the gallant sons of the soil who sacrificed his life to liberate Zimbabwe.
The commemorations, which will begin by the laying of a wreath on the grave of Cde Tongo at the National Heroes Acre, will be held at KG6 in Harare.
General Tongo's widow, Amai Angeline Tongongara says she is humbled by the decision taken by the ZDF.
Mai Hondo, as she was affectionately known during the struggle, Amai Tongogara has distanced her family from commemorations being planned by one of the late Tongogara's brother.
Cde Tongo died on the 26th of December 1979 in a car accident in Mozambique on his way back home just a few days after the conclusion of the Lancaster House Constitution.
