3 hrs ago | Views
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is investigating Nisbert Zaba Makhuyana, the headmaster of a Chipinge school, following the circulation of a viral sex tape involving him and a learner from Samhutsa Secondary School.
According to reports from The Manica Post, the video, which has circulated widely on social media, shows Makhuyana engaged in an intimate act with the female learner. The video has sparked outrage and concern across various platforms, prompting an official investigation.
Richard Gabaza, the Acting Provincial Education Director for Manicaland, confirmed that his office is looking into the matter. However, he noted that investigations have been delayed due to Makhuyana's unavailability.
"Makhuyana is currently on holiday, as schools are closed, and we have been informed that he is engaged with ZIMSEC for examination marking," Gabaza explained.
The source of the leaked video remains unclear, but it reportedly surfaced last week, resulting in Makhuyana's arrest. However, the Chipinge Magistrates' Court decided not to proceed with the prosecution after the learner, believed to be over 18, provided an affidavit in which she stated that the act was consensual and that she was in a relationship with Makhuyana.
The video, lasting a minute and three seconds, shows Makhuyana in bed with the learner. Local rumors suggest that Makhuyana may have had a prior romantic relationship with the learner's mother before allegedly starting a relationship with her daughter.
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has yet to make a public statement on any potential disciplinary action, but the investigation is ongoing. The case has raised serious questions about student-teacher relationships and the protection of learners in Zimbabwe's education system.
