The family of the late former ZBC TV news anchor Zvikomborero Sibanda has released details of her funeral and burial arrangements following her passing in Bulawayo on Thursday due to complications related to fibroids. Sibanda, who was widely known as Kombo or Zviko among family and friends, was 46 years old.
Sibanda had a long career in the local media before transitioning to work at the National Oil Company of Zimbabwe. Despite her professional success, she openly spoke about her struggles with infertility over the years. In July 2022, she confided in a friend that she had nearly lost her life due to pulmonary embolism.
Born on 5 April 1978, Sibanda was married but had no children. Her family has invited friends and well-wishers to join them in mourning her and celebrating her life. A prayer vigil will be held on the evening of Sunday, 2 February 2025, at the family home, starting at 5:00 PM. The funeral service is scheduled for Monday, 3 February 2025, at Salvation Army Church in Mpopoma, beginning at 8:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at Athlone Cemetery, and a gathering will be held at the family home in Mpopoma afterward.
Her family expressed gratitude for the support they have received and welcomed all those who wish to pay their final respects to a woman remembered for her dedication to journalism and her warmth toward those around her.
