Zimbabwean football coach Kalisto Pasuwa has been appointed as the new head coach of Malawi's national men's football team, The Flames. Pasuwa, affectionately known as "Manabundu," has signed a two-year contract, which will see him lead the team until 2027.
This appointment follows Pasuwa's successful stint as the interim coach of the Malawian national team since November last year. The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) officially confirmed the move in a statement, welcoming Pasuwa as the new head coach of the Malawi Men's Senior National Team.
"We are excited to have Kalisto Pasuwa join the Malawi Football family. His experience and success in African football, especially with Nyasa Big Bullets, will be invaluable as he takes charge of the Flames for the next two years," said a spokesperson from FAM.
Pasuwa is no stranger to success in Malawi, having achieved remarkable feats as head coach of Nyasa Big Bullets, one of the country's top football clubs. Under his leadership, the club dominated the domestic scene, winning four consecutive league titles and numerous other trophies. Pasuwa left Nyasa Big Bullets in December 2024, and now, he turns his focus to national team duties, where he is expected to bring his winning mentality to The Flames.
With his vast experience and proven track record, the appointment of Kalisto Pasuwa has generated excitement among Malawian football fans, who are hopeful that he will lead the team to greater success on the international stage.
