The incident occurred around noon, as Cosmas Ruzivo, along with three friends, was herding cattle in the mountainous area.
According to Masvingo Provincial Police spokesperson Kudakwashe Dhewa, the group of youngsters had been chasing baboons when Ruzivo slipped and fell down a mountain slope, resulting in his death.
