Tshabangu denies ties to 'CCC Blue' and 'CCC Green'

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) senator Sengezo Tshabangu has dismissed claims that he was ever a member of the faction led by Welshman Ncube, following his expulsion from the party last week.
Tshabangu was expelled after a disciplinary hearing by Ncube's CCC faction, which accused him of misconduct for making unilateral changes to the party's parliamentary leadership. However, he insists that he attended the hearing under protest and does not belong to any faction within the divided opposition party.
Tshabangu maintains that he is not aligned with either CCC Blue, which supports former party leader Nelson Chamisa, or CCC Green, which is linked to Ncube. He argues that, according to the CCC's constitution, the party leadership's term expired on May 27, 2024, leaving the party without a sitting president.
In a statement, his spokesperson Nqobizitha Mlilo reaffirmed that Tshabangu has never been affiliated with CCC Green or its structures. Mlilo also stated that Tshabangu was not nominated or deployed as a senator by Ncube's faction and had never attended any of its meetings.
Mlilo accused Ncube of attempting to seize control of CCC's financial resources under the Political Parties (Finance) Act. According to The Standard, Tshabangu was reportedly promised millions of dollars for taking control of the party but has yet to receive any funds.
Meanwhile, the government has indicated that it will delay disbursing party funds until the CCC factions resolve their leadership dispute. The ongoing internal wrangles have further weakened the opposition, with the battle for control now extending to the party's finances and parliamentary representation.
