In a chilling and unusual turn of events, a mother's bravery exposed a horrific murder in Zezani after her son confessed to killing a church-going woman and pleaded for money to flee to South Africa.

Marvelous Tlou, aged 21, was found dead in a bush two days after she disappeared while on her way to church near Whunga Business Centre. Unbeknownst to her family, she had fallen victim to two alleged predators, Quinton Sibanda (18) and Kamuelo Moyo (20), who reportedly posed as fellow churchgoers before robbing, raping, and brutally murdering her.

The suspects initially believed they had gotten away with the crime. However, Quinton's conscience caught up with him, and he confessed the grisly act to his mother, requesting cash to escape the country.

Rather than aiding her son's escape, the courageous mother immediately reported the confession to the police, leading to the suspects' swift arrest and the discovery of Marvelous' body concealed in the bush just 15 metres from a footpath.

Acting police spokesperson Inspector Stanford Mguni revealed, "They strangled her, then stabbed her multiple times with an Okapi knife. They dragged her body and left it to rot in the bush."

The crime occurred on May 9, with arrests made two days later. The suspects have since led police to the scene of the murder.

Inspector Mguni commended the mother's decisive action, urging the public to report crimes regardless of who is involved. He also warned women to avoid walking alone at night and to move in groups, as predators remain a grave threat.

Marvelous Tlou's only intent was to worship, but thanks to one mother's unwavering moral courage, the path to justice has begun.
