Man kills father, police launch manhunt for fugitive suspect

A 30-year-old man is the prime suspect in the brutal killing of his 64-year-old biological father, Boniface Manyonga, whose lifeless body was discovered along the Harare-Chirundu highway near Chinyerere farm in Karoi, Mashonaland West province.
Inspector Ian Kohwera, spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in the province, confirmed the tragic incident and appealed to the public for information on the whereabouts of the suspect, Comfort Manyonga.
"Detectives from CID Karoi are seeking information on Comfort Manyonga of Plot 11 Chinyerere Farm, Karoi, wanted in connection with the death of his father Boniface Manyonga on June 12, 2025," Inspector Kohwera stated.
According to police reports, the deceased left his second wife's homestead early in the morning to visit his first wife's farmhouse, where he was working in preparation to put tobacco in one of the rooms.
At around 9:00 AM on June 12, schoolchildren discovered his blood-stained body roughly six meters from the Harare-Chirundu road.
Police who attended the scene, alongside CID officers, noted multiple wounds on the body including three deep cuts on the back of the head, several cuts on the head, numerous stab wounds from a sharp object, and two open wounds on the right wrist.
The body was taken to Karoi District Mortuary for postmortem examination.
Inspector Kohwera urged the public to respect the sanctity of life and called on anyone with information to come forward and assist investigations by contacting the nearest police station.
The ZRP continues the search for Comfort Manyonga as investigations into the alleged filicide intensify.
