Armed robbers pounce on Shamva mill, disappear

A brazen armed robbery occurred at Shamva 340 mill on September 24, 2025, at around 2 am, where five unknown accused persons, armed with an unidentified pistol, entered the premises through a porous fence and targeted several employees.
Zimbabwe Republic Police's Mashonaland Central provincial deputy spokesperson Assistant Inspector Lucy Chigwenhese confirmed that the accused persons demanded cash and cellphones from the employees, threatening them with a pistol.
They (accused) allegedly broke open doors and stole various items, including cellphones and two small silver dishes.
"The accused persons forced the employees to move around the premises, collecting cellphones and other valuables. They dumped the stolen cellphones and a black toy gun at the guardroom before fleeing the scene," Assistant Inspector Lucy Chigwenhese said.
A report was made at ZRP Shamva and investigations are ongoing and police are working to establish the total value stolen and locate the accused persons.
Meanwhile, Chigwenhese confirmed that some of the stolen cellphones worth about US$900 were recovered.
"The Zimbabwe Republic Police police are working to apprehend the accused persons and bring them to justice," Chigwenhese said.
