Self-imposed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Secretary General Sengezo Tshabangu has come under fire after praising Zanu PF Epworth legislator Scott Sakupwanya and stating that the opposition reserves comment on Zanu PF's 2030 agenda.
Tshabangu posted on X that he had toured Sakupwanya's Mabvuku Number 1 Grounds and was impressed by the renovations.
"Yesterday, I had a chance to tour Honorable Scott Sakupwanya's Mabvuku Number 1 Grounds, where he is renovating the stadium to meet international standards. This guy is a hard worker; he's doing great things in his constituency, and his successes aren't being properly publicized," he wrote.
The post triggered backlash, with X users accusing Tshabangu of aligning with Zanu PF.
Bruce Mhuka responded:
"Scott Sakupwanya is a killer. He killed a lot of people in order to pave a way to become a useless MP," he posted, along with unprintable remarks.
Tshabangu also stated:
"As Zimbabwe's main opposition, we want to set the record straight that we reserve our comments on ZANU-PF's internal issues, as we've nothing to do with ZANU-PF. We're only focused on building our support base and getting ready to face ZANU-PF in an election scheduled after 2030."
Noah Mpofu challenged the statement, saying Tshabangu was misinformed:
"You are lost. Elections in our constitution are due in 2028."
Councillor Danford Ngadzi described Tshabangu as a fool.
Ndibali KaKwabithi said he was "sick."
Tatso added:
"So you are supporting 2030 agenda madness because you are now driving a white Fortuner without number plates and you no longer think about others who walk long distances to schools and hospitals. I guess even your father was a sellout during the war."
