Warriors striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya was on target for Amazulu in their 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs in the Betway Premiership on Wednesday evening.
Ngwenya fired Usuthu into the lead in the 21st minute with a composed finish, but their advantage was short-lived as Mduduzi Shabalala struck back for Chiefs in the 32nd minute to level the score.
The goal was Ngwenya's fourth of the season, underlining his bright start in South Africa's top flight. The 22-year-old forward only joined Amazulu in July but has already established himself as a key attacking asset.
Before his move to Durban, Ngwenya had netted eight goals for FC Platinum in the current Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League season, further highlighting his scoring pedigree.
With the FIFA international break looming, the in-form striker is expected to be central to Zimbabwe's hopes when the Warriors face South Africa in a crucial World Cup Qualifier. He is among the 23 players named by coach Michael Nees for the tie.
Ngwenya's seamless transition into the South African Premiership and consistent scoring form will be a welcome boost for the Warriors as they prepare for the high-stakes clash.
