Two men allegedly implicated by Robert Mugabe Jr as drug suppliers were denied bail yesterday after spending a week in custody.

Simbarashe Kaseke and Wellington Ncube appeared before Harare magistrate Lisa Mutendereki, who ruled that they are not suitable candidates for bail and pose a flight risk, given the seriousness of the offenses.

According to court proceedings, on October 1, detectives from CID Drugs acted on intelligence about drug peddling at Number 38 Boscobel Drive, Highlands, Harare. Wellington Ncube was found with seven sachets of Indo hybrid dagga and two pink Ecstasy pills. Upon questioning, Ncube implicated his employer, Simbarashe Kaseke, as the owner of the drugs.

A subsequent search of Kaseke uncovered 15 sachets of Indo hybrid dagga and four pink Ecstasy pills, with a total weight of 26 grams and a street value of approximately US$380.

The matter is being prosecuted by Mandirasa Chigumira, with the court expected to hear further proceedings.
