Prominent Zimbabwean businessman and wholesaler Mohamed Mussa has died. The respected entrepreneur reportedly passed away on Wednesday morning after a brief, undisclosed illness.

Mussa's family confirmed his death in a statement, describing his passing as a great loss and calling on the public to keep him in their prayers.

"It is with sadness that we announce the passing away of our beloved father, Mohamed Mussa, from this temporary life to the real life of the hereafter," the family said. "Death was written and everything else is just an excuse. We should always be happy with the decree of Allah Ta'ala. May Allah Ta'ala forgive the deceased and raise his status. We request that one and all make dua for him and do isaale thawaab as that is what will benefit the deceased."

Although the exact cause of death has not been officially disclosed, family sources indicated that Mussa may have succumbed to age-related complications.

Mussa was the founder and director of the MM Group, a diversified business empire comprising wholesale, electrical, hardware, home centre, and LP gas retail operations. His company, Mohamed Mussa Wholesalers, became one of the most recognised wholesale brands in Zimbabwe, known for its wide range of affordable products.

He was also the father of former Warriors team manager Sharif Mussa.

Tributes have begun to pour in from the business community and beyond, with many describing Mussa as a humble visionary who helped shape Zimbabwe's wholesale and retail industry for decades.
