A routine beer-drinking session at Chipato Syndicate Mine Compound ended in tragedy on 14 October 2025 when a man, identified only as T-One, allegedly attacked three friends with a knife, leaving all three dead.
The victims, Innocent Mudonhi (21), Honest Shumbamhini (20), and Conrad Shumbamhini (25), were reportedly drinking together when a dispute erupted over an undisclosed matter. According to national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the argument escalated into a violent confrontation.
Witnesses told police that T-One suddenly drew a knife and stabbed Mudonhi in the stomach, causing fatal injuries. He then attacked Honest Shumbamhini, stabbing him in the stomach and hand, before plunging the same knife into Conrad’s stomach. Following the attack, T-One fled the scene.
The three men were rushed to Chegutu District Hospital. Mudonhi died on arrival, while Honest and Conrad succumbed to their injuries the following day.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police have launched a manhunt for T-One and are urging the public to assist with any information that may lead to his arrest. Commissioner Nyathi appealed to residents to report tips at the nearest police station or contact the National Complaints Desk via phone or WhatsApp.
Residents of the mine compound expressed shock and horror over the incident, describing it as "pure evil," and have called for swift justice. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack, which has left the once-bustling beer spot marred by tragedy.
