CHEGUTU - Police are investigating a triple murder case that occurred at Chipato Syndicate Mine Compound in Chegutu on 14 October 2025 at around 10 pm.

According to a statement from the Zimbabwe Republic Police, preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect, identified only as 'T-One', was drinking beer at the compound with the victims - Innocent Mudonhi (21), Honest Shumbamhini (20), and Conrad Shumbamhini (25).

"A misunderstanding arose over an unknown issue, resulting in a violent altercation," read the statement.

During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly drew a knife and stabbed Innocent Mudonhi once in the stomach, causing severe injuries with protruding intestines. He then stabbed Honest Shumbamhini once in the stomach and once on the right hand, before turning on Conrad Shumbamhini, whom he stabbed once in the stomach, leaving the knife embedded in the victim's body.

The suspect fled into the darkness, leaving the victims calling for help.

All three were rushed to Chegutu District Hospital, where Mudonhi died upon admission. The other two victims succumbed to their injuries the following day, on 15 October 2025.
