Man jailed after pleasuring himself while staring at woman sweeping

A 35-year-old man from Kwekwe has been sentenced to four months in prison for masturbating in public while staring at a woman performing her morning chores.

The incident occurred on 16 September 2025 at around 7 a.m., when the woman was sweeping her employer's yard. She was horrified to find Samson Machakaire engaged in the act, fixing his gaze on her.

Panicked, the woman ran inside and alerted her employer, who immediately reported the matter to the police. Machakaire was promptly arrested and brought before the Kwekwe Magistrates' Court, where he was convicted of public indecency.

The magistrate handed down a four-month jail term, with two months suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour, meaning Machakaire will serve two months effectively.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) condemned the act, stressing that public indecency and sexual misconduct will not be tolerated.

"The justice delivery system remains committed to upholding public morality, protecting citizens' dignity, and ensuring offenders face the full wrath of the law," the NPAZ said in a statement.
