Family members arrested for killing a relative

Five members of the Chaora family have been arrested in connection with the murder of their 54-year-old relative, John Chimana Chaora, police have confirmed.
The suspects include Kelvin Katuruza Chaora (26), a 16-year-old male juvenile, Chemika Gwenzi (33), Bvumbe Mandeya (35) and Ranwes Chaora (58).
According to police, the victim was reported missing on December 28, 2025, after he was last seen on December 25 at Bowen Shops in Kazunga Village, Guruve.
"Investigations by the police led to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of the victim's belongings," police said in a statement.
The body of John Chimana Chaora was later discovered near Ambush Dam in Kazunga Village, Guruve, on December 31, 2025.
Police said investigations are continuing and that further details surrounding the circumstances of the murder will be released in due course.
