Zanu-PF has announced the temporary suspension of the distribution of the Presidential Economic Empowerment Revolving Fund, pending the release of new guidelines on its management and utilisation.

In a letter signed by National Political Commissar M. Machacha and copied to Secretary General Advocate J.F.N. Mudenda and Treasurer General P.A. Chinamasa, the party directed all provinces to comply with the decision until further notice.

“The Commissariat Department wishes to announce the temporary suspension of the distribution of the Presidential Economic Empowerment Revolving Fund henceforth. The Secretary General Advocate J.F.N. Mudenda will soon issue new guidelines on the distribution, utilisation and management of the Fund,” the letter reads in part.

Machacha urged provincial structures to adhere strictly to the party's position while awaiting further instructions, describing the measure as a necessary step to ensure proper oversight and control of the Fund.

The Presidential Economic Empowerment Revolving Fund was established to provide financial support for economic initiatives among citizens, but the suspension suggests that the party is reviewing the processes for disbursement and accountability.

Zanu-PF has not indicated a timeline for the release of the new guidelines, leaving provincial offices and potential beneficiaries in a holding pattern as they await further instructions.

The move comes amid increasing scrutiny of government-led empowerment schemes and their implementation at the grassroots levels.
