President Emmerson Mnangagwa has honoured Zimbabwe T20 captain Sikandar Raza in recognition of his achievement as the world's top-ranked T20 all-rounder.

Raza, who is set to join the rest of the Chevrons squad in Sri Lanka for the ICC T20 World Cup, expressed gratitude to the President for the recognition, describing it as both humbling and inspiring.

Writing on his Facebook page, Raza said the honour from the Head of State underscored strong support for sport and athletes in the country.

"I want to thank His Excellency for sharing his valuable time and honouring me with the gift," Raza said.

"The highest office recognised me for being the World's Number One, which is a testament to his support for me and cricket."

Raza said the gesture would motivate athletes across different sporting codes to strive for excellence.

"This kind gesture will encourage all athletes to excel in their respective sports. In sha Allah, we will have more number ones in different sports and will raise the Zimbabwean flag high," he said.

Raza's rise to the top of the T20 all-rounder rankings has been widely celebrated in Zimbabwean sport, with many viewing his achievement as a milestone for cricket and a boost for the national team ahead of the World Cup.
